FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Getting Started
-
How do I get started?
Call or text (657) 229‑0059 or send a message on my contact page. We’ll schedule a free 10–15 minute consult to talk about what you’re looking for and see if we’re a good fit.
-
How soon can we meet?
I typically have openings within 1–2 weeks. Let me know if you need something sooner and I’ll share my earliest availability.
-
What happens in the free consult?
We’ll briefly discuss your hopes, intentions, and answer any questions. I’ll explain my approach and fees, and we’ll decide together whether to schedule an initial session.
Approach & Fit
-
What are your areas of proficiency?
I approach therapy through a collaborative and narrative lens to address challenges such as anxiety, overthinking, burnout, life transitions, trauma, depression, substance misuse, identity, sexuality, and relational challenges (individual or with partners/family).
-
What is narrative therapy?
Narrative therapy views you as separate from your problems. We explore how the problem operates in your life, uncover strengths and values, and co‑author new stories and strategies that fit who you are.
-
What if we’re not a good fit?
No problem—fit matters. If it doesn’t feel right after the consult or first session, I’m happy to provide referrals to colleagues who might better meet your needs.
Logistics
-
How frequently will I visit?
Most clients start weekly or biweekly. As progress builds, we can shift to less frequent check‑ins—whatever supports you best.
-
How long is each session?
Standard sessions are 50 minutes. Longer sessions can be arranged if needed.
-
Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?
I offer some later afternoon/early evening slots. Ask during the consult for current availability.
-
Do you work with teens?
Yes, in many situations. Let’s discuss your family’s needs to determine the best approach.
-
Do you see clients outside California?
No. I’m licensed in California, so teletherapy is only available to clients physically located in California at the time of session.
-
Can we meet by phone instead of video/in person?
Video or in‑person sessions are preferred for connection, but phone may be possible in certain situations—ask if that’s important to you.
Fees, Insurance & Policies
-
Is everything confidential?
Therapy is confidential with a few limits. I’ll review confidentiality in detail at our first session.
-
Can I email you? Is it secure?
You can call or text (657) 229‑0059 to get started. Text and standard email aren’t fully secure, so we’ll move sensitive info to a secure platform once we begin.
-
Do you prescribe medication?
No. As an LMFT, I don’t prescribe. I’m happy to consult with your physician or psychiatrist with your written consent.
-
What if I’m in crisis?
I don’t provide 24/7 emergency services. If you’re in immediate danger or need urgent help, call 988, 911, or go to the nearest emergency room.
-
Will you coordinate with my other providers?
Yes—with your written permission, I can collaborate with doctors, psychiatrists, or other professionals involved in your care.
